Every Time I Die - Revival Mode / Typical Miracle (live)
Hmmm. While I can't help but feel underwhelmed -considering what a gem Underwater Bimbos is- I suppose the song (and video) are not without their merit. Also embedded is some live footage of another new song, Typical Miracle, which sounds OK.

Errata - Al Dente

Definitely shades of Mr. Bungle here, but has other very unique offerings. Best of all, Errata's EP is available free/name your price.
Plague Widow - EP

At long last, Plague Widow has finally dropped their much anticipated, debut eponymous EP. Recorded by Bob Swanson of Mayhemeness Studios (Journal, Fate/Shadow of the Colossus, Rings of Saturn, Slaughterbox), this EP should satisfy one's craving for new brutal death-grind. I found "Mabus Incarnate" particularly satisfying.

I'm at a loss here. The only comparison I could draw would be Naked City, but it's still unlike most everything I've ever heard. Thanks to Incongruous Noise for turning me on to this band.
Taken from Last.fm: "Through their evolution of style, their rhythmic and formal complexity have expanded greatly, incorporating polyrhythms, asymmetrical time signatures (i.e. not all beats are the same length), as well as more complex and varied sections, often containing polyphony and counterpoint. However, through all these impressive technical feats, they have managed to keep the overall feel very simple and melodic, to the extent that most other music feels hideously normal after listening to Koenji Hyakkei."
BADBADNOTGOOD - Discography
By now I'm sure most of you are aware of the LA hip-hop collective, Odd Future, and the antics of their sprite-like leader, Tyler the Creator. If so, then you may also be aware of this jazz trio doing stellar OF covers. Once again, I've seemed to slightly deviate from the genre-focused nature of this blog, but it's good to mix it up...and hey, this could have been the Nick Drake post I had originally intended. Oh well, maybe next post, if I haven't lost all my 'cred'.
If you're a Zelda fan, be sure to check out this.
